High Performance Copper LGC Subwoofer Cable with NDS System and Symmetrical Coaxial Geometry
Available lengths selectable from drop-down menu.
Bass is the foundation of all music. The subwoofer is able to reproduce harmonics with a deep effect not only on bass, but on instruments that you would never think would need bass reinforcement, such as female vocals and violins. Next time you have the chance to listen to a solo female voice, try to hear the difference once with the subwoofer and once without. Listen to what happens. The new Black Lab cable is designed to allow no signal distortion so that the bass is transmitted with clear tones and precise harmonics.
The Black Lab cable uses Long Grain Solid Copper conductors.
FEATURES
LONG-GRAIN SOLID COPPER CONDUCTORS (LGC): solid conductors eliminate the distortion of wire interaction. Black Lab's long grain solid copper offers a smoother and clearer sound than cables using normal OFHC (high conductivity oxygen-free) copper. OFHC is a general metal industry specification for 'lossy' without any concern for distortion. LGC has fewer oxides in the conducting material, fewer impurities, less grain boundaries and much better performance.
POLYETHYLENE INSULATION: Any solid material adjacent to a conductor is effectively part of an imperfect circuit. The insulation of the wire and the circuit materials all absorb energy (loss). Some of this energy is stored and then released as distortion. Black Lab uses air-filled polyethylene foam insulation on both conductors because air absorbs almost no energy and polyethylene has low loss and a benign distortion profile. Because of all the air in Foamed-PE, it causes much less of the blurring effect common to other materials.
METALLIC NOISE DISSIPATION SYSTEM (NDS): 100% shield coverage is easy. Preventing captured RF interference by modulating the equipment ground reference requires the QA noise dissipation system. The noise dissipation system prevents a significant amount of RFI from reaching the equipment ground plane.
SYMMETRICAL COASSE GEOMETRY: identical + and - conductors prevent the screen from being used as a lower audio conductor.
COLD-WELDED GOLD PLATED CONNECTORS: this connector design allows a solder-free connection, which is a common source of distortion. Since the ground shells are moulded rather than machined, the metal can be chosen for low distortion rather than machinability.
GROUNDING: sometimes hum occurs unless the subwoofer and AV receiver (or surround sound processor) are connected to each other via a separate cable. If your system has hum, try attaching the small spade tails to the metal chassis of the subwoofer amplifier and the chassis of the sending component. Usually, this extra wire will not be necessary.
