Available length: 1.5 metres
For many applications, the speed of digital communication is important. Most visibly, 'speed' is about transferring large files as quickly as possible or transferring enough data for HD video. For USB audio (and for HDMI audio), 'speed' is critical not because of how fast it is, but because the time relationships within a digital stream are critical to the reconstruction of the analogue waveform that brings information, music and joy to our ears Time-based damage (jitter) to this information within the data packet makes sound small and flat instead of 3D, hard and foggy instead of smooth and clear.
AudioQuest USB Type-C cables with these conductor materials and construction techniques have enabled AQ's other USB cables to achieve 'Best-In-Class' recognition worldwide.
With the new USB Type-C connector rapidly gaining popularity on many devices, the AQ line of USB cables equipped with Type-C will allow users to connect with Type-C enabled devices such as MacBook, ChromeBook, Pixel, Galaxy Note 7, etc.
In addition, ALL AudioQuest USB cables incorporate a new strain relief system to ensure long life between the USB cable and plug.
FEATURES
0.5% Silver Plated Semi-Solid Copper Conductors: Solid conductors eliminate wire-interference distortion and reduce jitter. Silver-plated solid copper conductors are excellent for very high frequency applications such as Ethernet audio or USB. These signals travel at high frequency almost exclusively on the surface of the conductor. Since the surface is made of high-purity silver, the performance is very close to that of a solid silver cable, but at prices much closer to solid copper cable. This is an incredibly cost-effective way of producing the highest quality Ethernet and USB cables.
Hard foam insulation: Hard foam insulation (HCF) ensures a critical signal pair geometry. Any solid material adjacent to a conductor is actually part of an imperfect circuit. Cable and circuit board insulation materials absorb energy. Some of this energy is stored and then released as distortion. Rigid cell foam insulation is similar to the PE foam used in our cheaper Bridges & Falls cables, and is injected with nitrogen to create air pockets. Since nitrogen (like air) does not absorb energy and therefore does not release energy from or into the conductor, distortion is reduced. In addition, the stiffness of the material allows the cable conductors to maintain a stable relationship along the entire length of the cable, producing a stable impedance character and further reducing distortion.
Directionality: All drawn metal wires or conductors have a non-symmetrical, and therefore directional, grain structure. AudioQuest controls the resulting RF impedance variation so that noise is discharged from where it will cause distortion. The correct direction is determined by listening to each batch of metal conductors used in each AudioQuest audio cable. Arrows are clearly marked on the connectors to ensure superior audio quality
