LoRad stands for LOw RADiation and minimises both electric and magnetic fields.

LoRad protects against both the alternating fields radiating from the cable and the pick-up of noise fields in the surrounding air, e.g. wireless and mobile phones, wifi, radio and TV broadcasts, etc. LoRad SPC is the new development of the LoRad concept, developed to celebrate our 40th anniversary with shielding, flexibility, bending/fatigue resistance and strength.

In addition to the physical shield incorporated in the cable design, the cables are spun in a short pitch, counteracting the alternating magnetic field that, according to the physical law of inductance, always surrounds a cable carrying a current. The advantages are less noise detected by the cable and less noise affecting adjacent cables as low-level interconnections.

LoRad SPC incorporates Supra's unique Carbon / Nylon shield concept. The Carbon / Nylon semiconductor shield exhibits improved properties, flexural strength, environmental immunity, increased tensile strength and reduced microphonic effect. The Carbon / Nylon shield is connected to a drain wire along its total length, efficiently bringing noise locked in the shield to ground. We tested and evaluated all known types of shields to make such a good cable. Supra's semi-conductive carbon/nylon shield was the only one to pass the stringent safety requirements and, in addition, its shielding properties were the best ever. LoRad MkII is tested and certified by Intertek Sweden, conforming to the European safety standard HD21.5 S3.

The cable must be connected to a wall socket with a ground terminal for the full LoRad effect.
