SUPRA Rondo 4x2.5 is a four-core cable with 2.5 mm² per conductor.
Extremely flexible, it contains tinned OFC copper multi-strands with a purity grade of 5N, i.e. greater than 99.999%.
The insulating coating is composed of a special, ionically stable PVC, which minimises corrosion of the tin-plated surface and guarantees excellent acoustic performance.
The conductors are individually tinned (with pure tin) OFC copper in such a way as to minimise the skin effect by acting as a semi-Litz-type cable.
Furthermore, this tinning process (not silver plating!) helps to limit conductor jumps, thus transforming the multi-strand cable into a kind of solidcore (single conductor).
Supra claims that the advantage of pure tin over silver lies in the fact that copper and tin ‘mix’ together rather than creating a kind of diodic ‘barrier’ like that between copper and silver. In addition, pure tin protects OFC copper from oxidation.
SUPRA concentric cables are extremely flexible and, being helically wound with a small pitch, have low inductance and low radiation, as well as a high fatigue tolerance resulting from frequent bending or vibration. The small pitch processing is considerably more complex and expensive, requires special machinery and is not often found in products of other brands.
