SUPRA CLASSIC 1.6/H

Power Cable for Acoustic Loudspeakers by the metre, colour BLUE ICE. This cable with flame delay is particularly suitable for public premises. It complies with the latest regulations regarding flame delay and toxic emissions.

The cable is supplied in a single piece of the quantity purchased in multiples of 1 metre.

SUPRA Classic 1.6 is an extremely flexible 1.6 sq. mm two-core cable containing tinned OFC copper multi-strands with a purity grade of 5N, i.e. greater than 99.999%. The insulating jacket consists of a special, ionically stable PVC, which minimises corrosion of the tin-plated surface and guarantees excellent acoustic performance. By reducing the so-called skin effect and decreasing current jumps between the wire surfaces, the tin contributes to better sound quality.
This series covers all Hi-Fi applications from low-power systems (such as rear speakers in home-theatre systems) to high-power systems with long cable lengths.

The conductors are individually tinned (with pure tin) OFC copper in such a way as to minimise the skin effect by acting as a semi-Litz-type cable.
Furthermore, this tinning process (not silver plating!) helps to limit conductor jumps, thus transforming the multi-strand cable into a kind of solidcore (single conductor).
Supra claims that the advantage of pure tin over silver lies in the fact that copper and tin ‘mix’ together rather than creating a kind of diodic ‘barrier’ like that between copper and silver. In addition, pure tin protects OFC copper from oxidation.

The technical specifications of the CLASSIC 1.6 (1.6 are the mm2 cross-sectional area) state a resistance of 10.5 Ohm per km (kilometre!) and an inductance of 0.40 µH per metre.
