FEATURES
LONG-GRAIN SOLID COPPER CONDUCTORS (LGC): solid conductors eliminate distortion from wire interaction. Pearl's long grain solid copper offers a smoother and clearer sound than cables using normal OFHC (high conductivity oxygen-free) copper. OFHC is a general metal industry specification for 'lossy' without any concern for distortion. LGC has fewer oxides in the conducting material, fewer impurities, less grain boundaries and much better performance.
POLYETHYLENE INSULATION: Any solid material adjacent to a conductor is effectively part of an imperfect circuit. Insulating and circuit board materials all absorb energy (loss). Some of this energy is stored and then released as distortion. Pearl USB uses air-filled polyethylene foam insulation because air absorbs almost no energy and polyethylene is low-loss and has a benign distortion profile. Because of all the air in Foamed-PE, it causes much less of the blurring effect common to other materials.
TERMINATION: Precision gold-plated connectors are carefully connected with the best solder. Through the choice of flux and metallurgy, the AQ solder has been optimised to create a low-distortion connection. The difference you feel between the solder is a result of the quality of the connection. AQ solder does not have a high silver content because the more silver there is in the solder, the harder it is to make a good connection.
