FEATURES
METAL: The use of long-grain copper (LGC) gives the cable a clearer and more detailed sound when compared to cables constructed with OFHC (OXYGEN FREE HIGH CONDUCTIVITY) type copper. Although OFHC copper is the most widely used metal for cable production, it is only distinguished by its signal retention qualities, without taking distortion into account. LGC copper, on the other hand, offers conductors less prone to oxidation, fewer impurities, less interaction between conductors.
SEMI-SOLID: In a traditional cable, the change of position of the conductors within the housing causes magnetic interactions that generate strong distortions. In Audioquest cables, the SEMI-SOLID conductor arrangement prevents movement and the consequent generation of distortions.
OTHER FEATURES
NOISE-DISSIPATION SYSTEM: 100% screening is relatively easy to achieve.
Preventing RF interference requires Audioquest's Noise-Dissipation System. Metal or carbon-filled materials prevent most RF noise from reaching the system's ground.
COLD-SOLDER WELDING: Modern connectors are joined to the conductors by cold-soldering, allowing a connection without compromise. Both RCA and XLR connectors use a patented system that eliminates distortion caused by unwanted contacts within the connector itself. Since the connectors are moulded, rather than milled, the metal is chosen on the basis of its low-distortion characteristics rather than its suitability for machining.
HELICAL-ARRAY GEOMETRY: The relationship between conductors defines the most basic electrical values of a cable (including capacitance and inductance). However, even when these variables are kept in reasonable equilibrium, the relationship between conductors can be varied in ways that greatly affect performance. Helical-array construction (such as circular spiral) allows for significantly better dynamic contrast and clarity than if the same conductors were run in parallel or as several twisted pairs.
