FEATURES
SOLID COPPER CONDUCTORS WITH 0.5% SILVER: solid conductors eliminate strand interaction distortion and reduce jitter. Solid silver conductors are excellent for very high frequency applications. These signals, being high-frequency, travel almost exclusively on the conductor surface. Because the surface is pure silver, the performance is very similar to that of a solid silver cable, but much closer to copper cable. This is an incredibly economical way to produce subwoofer cables of the highest quality.
POLYETHYLENE FOAM INSULATION: Any solid material adjacent to a conductor is actually part of an imperfect circuit. The insulation materials of the wire and the circuit board all absorb energy (loss). Some of this energy is stored and then released as distortion. Greyhound uses air foamed polyethylene insulation on both conductors because air almost absorbs energy and polyethylene is low-loss and has a benign distortion profile. Because of all the air in Foamed-PE, it causes much less out-of-focus effect common with other materials.
NOISE DISSIPATION SYSTEM (NDS): 100% shield coverage is easy. Preventing RF interference captured by the modulation of the equipment ground reference requires the QA noise dissipation system. The noise dissipation system prevents a significant amount of RFI from reaching the equipment ground plane.
HYPERLITZ COAX GEOMETRY: In Greyhound, a perfect circle of eight negative conductors spirals around a single larger positive conductor, creating a cable with a large cross-section, minimising the skin effect and providing low resistance.
COLD-WELDED GOLD PLATED CONNECTORS: this plug design allows a solder-free connection, which is a common source of distortion. Since the ground shells are moulded rather than machined, the metal can be chosen for low distortion rather than machinability.
GROUNDING: Sometimes there is a hum problem unless the subwoofer and AV receiver (or surround sound processor) are connected to each other using a separate cable. If your system has a hum problem, try connecting the small forks to the metal chassis of the subwoofer amplifier and the chassis of the sending component. Usually, this additional cable will not be necessary.
