Neotech's NEI-3004 is a braided balanced cable that provides excellent noise rejection. The UP-OCC copper conductor and polyethylene insulation produce a very balanced and natural sound. This cable uses an AL-Mylar shield sheet and an OFC braided shield to reduce EMI.

What is UP-OCC? The UP OCC process for copper refining was developed and patented by Professor Ohno of the Chiba Institute of Technology in Japan. This manufacturing process is incredibly popular for the production of wires and cables for the audio/video industry.

UP OCC stands for Ultra-Pure, Ohno Continuous Casting. In conventional processing, hot molten copper is poured into a cooled die for extrusion, resulting in multiple, fractional crystal structures. Oxygen-free copper (OFC) has undesirable effects that lead many to use more expensive materials such as silver. The OCC process uses a heated mould for casting and extrusion, with cooling in a separate process. The result is a larger crystal size and higher purity, around 6N, 99.9998%! Looked at another way, traditional copper has oxygen impurities of 200 to 500 parts per million (PPM), whereas in traditional OFC copper this is reduced to less than 10 ppm. With the OCC process, this figure is halved to less than 5 PPM of oxygen and less than 0.25 PPM of hydrogen (compared to 0.5 PPM for OFC). With these results, the OCC process creates an "ultra-pure" copper

  • 2 UP-OCC Copper conductors (99.99998% pure)
  • Total conductor cross-section: 20 AWG (0.517 mm²):
  • Single conductor cross-section: 1 x 24 AWG (0.2 mm²) and 9 x 32 AWG (0.032 mm²) with an
  • outer diameter of 2.5 mm and an inner diameter of 0.81 mm.
  • Shielding: OFC Copper braid and AL-Mylar foil
