The Audio 40 cable range is a new design concept from QED Labs. It is designed primarily for low capacitance, a feature identified by QED as a significant factor in a high fidelity experience. The cable's Complementary Conductor TechnologyTM, excellent for high-frequency detail, and Analoc TechnologyTM, optimum for maximising signal integrity, makes for the most innovative interconnect ever made by QED.

Engineering Genealogy

New Analoc2 design The Analoc2 design still features low-mass, high-purity copper connectors together with low-mass metal cylinders, but now cleverly substitutes high-rigidity thermoplastic material for both the internal support structure and cable gland to eliminate the damaging effects of eddy currents.

Ferrite cord insulation

A Zn/Mn ferrite sheath is used inside the cable to absorb very high frequency noise components outside the audible band that have a negative effect on the micro-timing of the audio signal. When measured at very high frequencies, Reference Audio 40 cables show cleaner signal transmission than standard audio interconnects. Additional protection for the 99.999% silver-plated oxygen-free copper (SPOFC) conductors comes in the form of a low-loss, low-density polyethylene foam dielectric (LDPE) inner jacket that minimises electrical energy loss in the cable insulation, which can have a negative effect on sound fidelity compared to cheaper PVC alternatives
