Single AES/EBU digital cable with 110 Ohm characteristic impedance factory terminated with Neutrik XLR. Silver-plated OFC copper conductors. Ultra low jitter. Boxed
Available length: 1 metre
Reference XLR 40 Digital
Reference XLR 40 is based on the award-winning Audio 40 product range, now available in digital AES/EBU format.
The XLR 40 has been designed primarily to reduce jitter, which has been identified by QED as one of the main factors leading to a high fidelity experience. Further steps have been taken to eliminate minimal timing errors in the cable, thanks to the use of a special Zn/Mn ferrite floating sheath and the use of QED's unique ‘Tri-Conductm’ technology, which reduces the signal capacitance to ground to incredibly low levels.
FEATURES AND BENEFITS
An award-winning tradition
Reference XLR 40 is based on the award-winning Audio 40 product range, now available in XLR format. QED has joined forces with world-renowned professional audio connector supplier Neutrik (UK) to offer a new XLR balanced interconnect cable with legendary build quality and reliability.
Professional standard Neutrik connectors
Neutrik XX-14 Nickel Series XLR gold-plated connectors are supplied as standard with Reference XLR 40 cables. These connectors are robust and reliable. These connectors are robust and reliable and are the choice of audio professionals worldwide. They are particularly well suited to QED's Tri-ConductorTM geometry, thanks to the additional spring-loaded earth contacts that provide better ground continuity for the unique electrostatic shield, which is connected only at the source end of the cable.
Just listen
Silver-plated conductors, LDPE dielectrics and legendary build quality combine to create audible sound enhancements. We invite you to compare the Reference XLR 40 not only with your favourite cable, but also with alternative makes and models at any price!
Floating ferrite coating
Absorbs high-frequency noise signal components outside the audio band. When measured with high-frequency measurement equipment, Audio 40 products transmit a cleaner, more compact signal when the special Zn/Mn ferrite sheath is present. This has a beneficial effect on the micro-timing of the audio signal, reducing digital jitter and timing errors to a very low level.
Exclusive three-core technology
QED's unique three-conductor technology uses a third 99.999% silver-plated OFC conductor, braided in an integrated manner with the signal pair of similar construction, to carry return currents to earth. This reduces the signal-to-ground capacitance to very low levels, enabling the cable to improve common-mode rejection of mains hum compared to normal 'hot-cold-shield' cables. This geometry is particularly effective in pro hi-fi audio applications when connecting pre and power amps using balanced cables or high-level streamers to DACs using XLR AES/EBU digital.
