"From the very beginning, the characteristic of the Chains' sound was power coupled with an already proven (in spite of their age) compactness. In this, the band almost never strayed from the typical heavy-metal song formula, while demonstrating from the start a maturity and understanding that few could have foreseen. Their debut album Facelift was released in 1990 by Columbia Records - who had already produced their first single - and was undoubtedly their debut with a bang. The group's explosive potential was all concentrated in that work. On the cover, a deformed face, and on the back, the image of the band suffocated by cellophane, a collage full of anguish but very successful; from the very first bars, Facelift is in fact hard, suffocating and restless."
