Caravan's "In the Land of Grey and Pink" is an extremely evocative record, starting with the bizarre cover, which is nothing more than a mix between a rustic picture and an acid trip, suspended in a dreamlike dimension somewhere between subtle English irony and quiet bucolic pastel-coloured scenarios. The atypical atmosphere unleashed by this record is also successful by virtue of the brilliant lyrics and colourful sounds, which contribute in good measure to opening a window on a world permeated by a feeling of lightness and surrealism and light-hearted skits steeped in English humour with soft contours. In the Land of Grey and Pink is a classic not only in its sounds, but also in the format on which the album is set. In fact, on the first side of the album we find the four shortest and leanest tracks, while the second part is entirely taken up by Nine Feet Underground, a mammoth twenty-two minute suite that can be considered as the summa of the British quartet's sound."
