Demonstrating a remarkable amount of out-of-the-box thinking and a willingness to challenge what was taken for granted, KL designed and introduced the Bullet plug in 2000. The Bullet plug was an instant success. It simply sounded better. KL's design eliminated eddy current distortion, capacitive reactance and micro-arc. It offered a new type of grounding, a radically different architecture and superior conductivity. After seventeen years, a patent, a trademark and numerous imitations, the original Bullet Plug underwent a significant redesign and improvement. The same out-of-the-box thinking by KL that produced the Bullet plug has been applied with many additional and advanced improvements to produce the next generation Bullet plug, the KLEI Harmony RCA plug. The KLEI HarmonyRCA plugs, by Keith Louis (KL), offer far superior performance and simply sound better.


MATERIAL: From the outset, KL has had an understanding of and sensitivity to electron/energy flow. His designs focus on signal integrity, elimination or mitigation of the causes of electron turbulence, especially eddy currents, capacitive reactance and micro-arc. A central theme in his designs was the choice of materials. He made the conscious decision to eliminate metal housings as standard on his connectors, as well as the universally used metal collars. Whether magnetic or not, the metals surrounding the conductor contribute to electron chaos and inhibit the smooth flow of the signal. KL uses highly heat-resistant and electrically inert polymers for both the housing and the collar. Not as a cost saving, but for better performance. In fact, the equipment required for these glass-impregnated polymer housings undoubtedly results in higher costs than for metal housings. These materials serve to improve signal integrity and reduce or eliminate known compromises to smooth electron flow

OPTIMAL MASS: Bigger, thicker and more massive does not mean better sound. Quite the contrary. A studied, optimised and in most cases minimalist approach to mass actually results in better sound and better electron/energy flow. KL's proprietary mathematical signal-to-ground formulas ensure an optimal architectural relationship between all metal complements and dielectrics used. The result is the control and avoidance of sound compromises caused by the skin effect. In addition, the reduction of EF and EMF interference. The control of these parameters guarantees a complete and extended frequency range, in which harmonics are transmitted intact from one component to another.

METALLURGY: This is of paramount importance; and something that has been central to KL's designs from the very beginning. KLEI is committed to implementing and using only conductors in its current Harmony RCA connectors that are more conductive than solid/pure copper and even solid/pure silver. KL's Harmony RCA connectors all have an IACS rating of 101% or higher and are breaking conceptual boundaries that were previously considered absolute. Much has happened since the days of the original Bullet Plug; and the metallurgy used in KLEI Harmony RCA connectors represents new knowledge that has arisen from research into forming and finishing processes, as well as metallurgical affinities and inherent crystal structures. Importantly, the signal and ground pins of the KLEI Harmony RCA connectors are harmoniously formed so that the metallurgical processes work together and not in opposition to each other, both electrically and mechanically.

KLEI/Metallurgysvs patented high-conductivity alloys are solid/pure copper and/or solid/pure silver. We believe that our extrapolation, tests and reports reveal the following

  • Electrically... that KLEI Harmony RCA connectors The proprietary high conductivity alloys/metallurgy used in KLEI Harmony RCA connectors are equivalent and even superior to solid/pure annealed copper (>=100% IACS) and/or even solid/pure annealed silver (>=105% IACS).Therefore, we believe that our patented high conductivity alloys/metallurgy can be called PURE (but not solid) because their % IACSi is equivalent to solid/pure annealed copper and even solid/pure annealed silver.
  • Mechanically... that the proprietary high conductivity/metallurgy alloys of the KLEI Harmony RCA connectors are much stronger than solid/pure annealed copper and/or silver and almost as strong as brass alternatives
  • sonically... that KLEI Harmony RCA connectors' proprietary high conductivity alloys/metallurgy are therefore superior to copper and/or solid/pure annealed silver, especially when designed according to KL's (proprietary) signal-to-ground formulas.KL's Signal/Ground (proprietary) formulas produce a targeted metallurgical relationship between Signal and Ground/Return conductors that we believe produces superior sonic performance, but "the proof is in the listening"

ARCHITECTURE: Conventional RCAs use a metal collar, which surrounds the signal pin as the plug ground, a configuration that contributes to the types of electronic turbulence discussed above. These disturbances are in the form of electrical eddy currents, capacitive reactance and micro-arc. To combat the degrading effects of electronic chaos, KL went outside the box. It opted for single-point grounding, sometimes referred to as star grounding in high-end electronics, in which the connector makes single-point contact with the female RCA socket. In doing so, the heel eliminates the metal collar. This is a radical departure from eighty years of RCA connector design and eliminates all traces of eddy current turbulence, capacitive reactance and micro-arc. When comparing the KLEI Harmony RCA connector with the Bullet connector, it is important to note that the signal and ground pins of the KLEI HarmonyRCA have been further and significantly optimised in terms of shape, mass, thickness and metallurgy and are electrically and mechanically superior.

MATHEMATIC MODELLING: The relationships between ground and signal pins, i.e. metal complement, mass and other critical parameters, are derived via the mathematical signal-to-ground formulas of KL

OVERVIEW: Every KLEI Harmony RCA plug-in in the product range, from Classic to KLEI Perfect Harmony RCA plug, offers progressively improved conductivity from >101% to even >105% IACS, which results in improved response to exceptionally fast transient signals in the audio signal, improved transmission and resolution of fine details, and achieves a more realistic reconstruction and presentation of the recorded image.
