Audio-Technica's internationally patented Dual Magnet design replicates the structure of the cutting head.

Instead of using a single large magnet, the two magnets are arranged in a 'V' shape. The two magnets are positioned exactly to match the positions of the left and right channels in the stereo groove walls. As a result, the VM design ensures exceptional channel separation, extended frequency response and excellent tracking.

Elliptical bare stylus

The elliptical diamond stylus follows the modulation of the groove more precisely than a conical stylus, offering improved frequency and phase responses while reducing distortion.

Para-toroidal generation system

Para-toroidal coils improve generation efficiency and offer excellent linearity, as the magnetic flux loss in this continuous, unitary circuit is low. Core permeability is also optimised through the use of laminated cores.

Central shielding plate reduces crosstalk

A central permalloy shielding plate allows effective separation of the left and right channels, suppressing electrical crosstalk below 40 dB. This is similar to the actual crosstalk value found in the grooves of the record itself.

In the event that the compliance value is stated at 100 Hz (usually referring to Japanese cartridges), it simply has to be doubled to find its correspondence at 10 Hz. On the other hand, if the compliance is declared in static regime (usually on cartridges made in the USA), it must be halved to find its value at 10 Hz.
