DESCRIPTION

 The turntable clamp, also called a stabiliser, is a device used to make the vinyl record integral to the turntable platter. It reduces flatness problems, increases the rotating mass and decreases flutter. It decreases resonance frequencies and interference caused by vibrations from outside.
Clamp 360 is made of anticorodal aluminium.
Its original geometry helps stabilise platter rotation. The central bushing, which houses the turntable's pivot, is made of PTFE (Teflon), a material with excellent surface gliding properties in which the coefficient of friction is the lowest among industrial products.

There are three materials that come into contact with the disc:

  • The central bushing
  • Three copper ‘plungers
  • Eight silicone pads positioned in the outermost part of the Clamp's circumference.

Both the bushing and the three copper 'plungers' are calibrated for uniform compression on the disc.

MATERIAL

Anticorodal: a series of aluminium alloys alloyed with magnesium (0.4-1.7%), manganese (0.5-1%) and silicon (1-5%), characterised by good mechanical properties and excellent corrosion resistance.

Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE): is the polymer belonging to the perfluorocarbon (PFC) class resulting from the homopolymerisation of tetrafluoroethene. It is normally best known by its commercial names Teflon, Fluon, Algoflon, Hostaflon, Inoflon and Guaflon, in which other stabilising and fluidifying components are added to the polymer to improve its application possibilities, or fillers based on silica, carbon, bronze, stainless steel and barium sulphate to increase performance in mechanical, pneumatic or chemical applications. It is a plastic material that is smooth to the touch and resistant to temperatures up to 260 °C (533.1 K), used in industry to coat surfaces subjected to high temperatures where 'non-stick' and good chemical inertness are required.
