New Denon DL-103R cartridge, the evolution of the legendary DL-103. The MC cartridge with the best price/performance ratio in 20 years
The DL-103 has been an epoch-making cartridge and represents the best quality/price ratio cartridge on the market. Launched in 1970, on the Japanese market it has undergone many updates and revisions, and there have been quite a few specialists who, for various reasons, have wanted to modify the product, adding new versions and trying to improve an absolutely winning cartridge. Denon has decided to market in our country from July 2006 a new version of the DL-103, called DL-103R. Denon engineers, who better than them, have cleverly improved the DL-103 design, bringing out a cartridge that in Japan is already considered as the best MC cartridge for price/performance ratio of the last 20 years. It does not replace the DL-103, which remains in the catalogue as normal, but is a new alternative for those who want to equip their system with a MC that has very few rivals. The DL-103R, equipped with 6N (99.9999%) copper windings, offers an output voltage of 0.25mV and an impedance of 14 ohms.
In the event that the compliance value is stated at 100 Hz (usually referring to Japanese cartridges), it simply has to be doubled to find its correspondence at 10 Hz. On the other hand, if the compliance is declared in static regime (usually on cartridges made in the USA), it must be halved to find its value at 10 Hz.
To check whether the resonance frequency is between 8-12 Hz (preferably 9-11 Hz), the optimum value, proceed via the links below.
