DESCRIPTION
While theorists debate whether the true nature of the universe is analogue or digital, a constant in our audiophile galaxy is that the music, dialogue and sound effects that reach our ears are analogue. In order to preserve this precious cargo, AudioQuest has designed a range of analogue interconnects optimised for the single-ended world. Bridges & Falls uses years of careful balancing of design and material selection to bring you a range of interconnects that, as far as possible, 'do no harm' to the original audio signal. To accommodate different budgets and meet the wide range of applications, AudioQuest offers seven models of these new multi-application low-distortion analogue interconnects. All include AudioQuest's proven design expertise with: better metals, superior geometry and our exclusive Noise-Dissipation system. For the top four models, we use Air-Tube Insulation, while the first three models use AudioQuest's incredibly effective Dielectric-Bias System (DBS). Great sound and extraordinary images, music that consumes you, films that transport you to the universe. Everything comes from honouring the original signal. An unavoidable fact-of-life: every component and cable in a system causes a certain amount of distortion. These aberrations add up, like layers of foggy glass between you and the image. The goal of high-quality components and cables is to be like a clean and clear sheet of glass, altering and distorting the information as little as possible.
Asymmetrical dual-balance geometry: designed for single-ended applications, asymmetrical dual-balance geometry provides a relatively lower impedance on the ground for a richer, more dynamic experience. While many single-ended cable designs utilise a single path to ground and shield, double-balanced designs separate the two for cleaner and quieter performance.
Perfect-Surface Copper (PSC) conductors: from the very beginning, AudioQuest pioneered the use of higher-quality metals, yet we were surprised by the huge leap in performance achieved through the incredibly smooth and pure surface of Perfect-Surface Copper (PSC). PSC clearly outperforms previous AQ metals that cost over ten times more. Proprietary metalworking technology protects the wire surface at every stage of design and manufacture. When low-oxide copper of high purity is kept as soft, pure and smooth as possible, it becomes a wonderfully low-distortion conductor. In a conventional cable, the electrical and magnetic interaction between the strands is a major source of distortion, often resulting in a somewhat harsh and dirty sound. Solid conductors are essential to achieve a very clean and natural sound.
Polyethylene foam insulation: any solid material adjacent to a conductor is actually part of an imperfect circuit. Cable and circuit insulation materials all absorb energy. Some of this energy is stored and then released as distortion. Since air absorbs energy and Polyethylene is low-loss and has a benign distortion profile, Foamed-PE, with its high air content, causes much less out-of-focus effect common to other materials.
Metal layer noise dissipation system: 100% shield coverage is easy to achieve. Preventing captured radio interference (RFI) from equipment ground reference modulation requires QA's Noise Dissipation System (NDS). Conventional shielding systems typically absorb and then discharge noise/ RF energy to component ground, modulating and distorting the critical 'reference' ground plane, which in turn causes signal distortion. NDS 'shields' by absorbing and reflecting most of this noise / RF energy before it reaches the grounded layer.
Cold-soldered, gold-plated terminations: this plug design allows a solder-free connection, which is a common source of distortion. Instead of soldering, the process uses a high-pressure technique. Since the ground shells are moulded rather than machined, the metal used can be chosen for low distortion rather than machinability.
