"The reissue of ...And Justice For All has been remastered to the best sound quality possible today, supervised by legendary sound engineer Greg Fidelman. ...And Justice For All was originally released, despite what the internet might tell you, on 7 September 1988, on Elektra Records. Certified 8 times Platinum in the US, the album marked a series of 'firsts' for Metallica: the first full recording for bassist Jason Newsted, the first Metallica album to enter the Top 10 in the US where it peaked at #6, the band's first video and first Top 40 single ("One"), their first performance at the GRAMMY Awards, as well as their first loss at the GRAMMYs (Best Hard Rock / Metal Performance Vocal or Instrumental for ... And Justice for All), but also their first GRAMMY win (Best Metal Performance for "One"). It also received more critical praise than any previous album, with Rolling Stone hailing the album as "a marvel of precisely channelled aggression" and "The fifth greatest heavy metal album of all time", Spin calling it "a precious gem".
