Sometimes she complained about the lack of erotic skill of her lovers, while at others the target of her ire was the audience. Sometimes she would cancel her performances at short notice and lash out fiercely against the entertainment industry. Through her music, rooted in gospel, Simone created a path for herself that lay somewhere between jazz and pop and that, in the 1960s, earned her the title High Priestess Of Soul. 'Nina Sings the Blues' was recorded during what was indisputably the artist's most productive phase. It is a recording that does not try to follow the fashions of the moment, but revolves entirely around Nina Simone's elegant alto voice, backed only by the rhythm session and an organ. 'Nina Simone Sings the Blues' is the perfect album to remember a true diva of jazz music.
