An album from 1976, 'Stan Getz featuring Joao Gilberto - The Best Of Two Worlds' by the late saxophonist Stan Getz is a reunion of sorts with the great Brazilian guitarist and singer Joao Gilberto, in which the great Antonio Carlos Jobim also participated as composer and author. The line-up includes Stan Getz (tenor sax), Albert Dailey on piano, Clint Houston, Steve Swallow (bass), Billy Hart, Grady Tate (drums), Airto Moreira, Reuben Bassini, Ray Armando and Sonny Carr (percussion), Heloisa Buarque de Hollanda (vocals), Joao Gilberto (percussion, guitar, vocals) and Oscar Castro-Neves (guitar, arrangements). Most of the tracks on offer are compositions of rare refinement and elegance penned by Jobim with the lyrics exceptionally written in English. Jobim's poetry in tracks like 'Waters of March', accompanied by Getz's romantic saxophone and Gilberto's nylon-string guitar, is so sensual that it radiates warmth and passion. Elsewhere, as in 'Double Rainbow', Gilberto's singing transports the soft bossa into American jazz phraseology, building an airy, flexible bridge that transcends genre barriers. And then there is the wonderfully passionate samba of 'Falsa Bahiana'. "Stan Getz featuring Joao Gilberto - The Best Of Two Worlds" is undoubtedly one of the best bossa albums recorded by Stan Getz.
