BAND PASS FILTER TECHNOLOGYTM Reference HDMI incorporates a built-in passive bandpass filter which must be sited at the TV end - making the cable directional. This filter effectively removes components of the signal above and below the HDMI band pass frequency which can contribute to unwanted timing errors, known as 'jitter'. The filter is also optimised to ensure the signal level does not drop below the predefined amplitude specified by the HDMI governing body. This has the effect of reducing cable induced timing errors, to half that found in a typical branded cable of the same length and specification.
