Produced by Maurice White. 'OK, it's disco music, but well done'. Anyone who thinks this way must have been quite active in the 1970s and 1980s and must have noticed that the commercial fusion music they listened to on Saturday nights was full of energy. Earth, Wind & Fire attached existential importance to their extraordinary mix of Latin music, gospel, soul and funk with a dynamic brass section. "That's the Way of the World" was seen as the record that would show the direction the band would take: either success or oblivion among the ranks of the many anonymous rhythm'n'blues groups. The line-up's secret recipe of refined Latin rhythms, solid bass lines and crisp funky improvisations, all flavoured with exotic sonic ingredients, was spot on. Crowned by an airy falsetto and funky vocal harmonies, the band created a big band sound that Rolling Stone magazine described as "innovative, yet popular, precise, yet sensual, calculated and yet exciting". After almost two decades, more than 3 million copies of 'That's the Way of the World' were sold in the US alone and the record was included in the American music magazine's list of the best 500 albums of all time. Earth, Wind & Fire were destined to write an important page in music history!
